How to paint the right wall so that the Color Lasts Long
Painting the walls or walls of the house is the last step that must be done in building a house. Indeed, for a newly built house, this stage is the responsibility of the builder. However, at least you also have to know how to paint the right wall. Because, not a few builders are “naughty”, and are careless in completing their work. So that in the end, the paint results are not optimal and cannot last long.
1. Priming the walls with an alkaline sealer
After installing bricks on the wall, the finishing stage that is carried out before painting is the wall plastering stage or chipping. Many people immediately paint the walls with color paint after the wall plastering process is complete. In fact, this is a big mistake and actually makes the wall color imperfect and fades quickly.
After the wall is finished painting, coat the wall with alkaline sealer as a primer before painting the color. With the alkaline sealer, the paint color will be more evenly distributed, anti-fungal, and you can save more on top coat. After the plating is dry, coat the walls with alkaline sealer, then proceed to the painting process.
The process of applying primer with an alkaline sealer
Before applying the alkaline sealer, make sure that the wall that has been cured is at least one month old. So, the water factor in the plaster has almost disappeared. Apply the lye sealer twice. Pay attention to the description of the alkaline sealer product purchased because some have to be mixed with water and some can be used immediately.
2. Paint the corner of the wall with color paint
After the primer application is complete, let it sit for 2 hours so that the results are perfect. Next is the finishing process using color paint, with a paint roll as a tool to apply it. But before painting all parts of the wall, first paint the corners that are difficult to reach with an ordinary wall brush. To make it easier for you, connect the brush with a paralon pipe, wood or bamboo, as needed. Do this repeatedly so that the corners and elbows are evenly covered with the desired paint color.
3. Paint the entire wall in all colors using a paint roll
If the corners have been painted, then the next step is to finish all parts of the wall that have not been colored. Prepare color paint first, like paint, paint roll, and paint roll sticks. Apply from bottom to top or top to bottom, noting that it is cut off in the middle. Avoid lifting the paint roll because it can make the colors accumulate and the result becomes thick and thin, uneven. To make it easier, use a roll pattern that forms the letter “V”.
Once the entire wall has been painted, repeat the paint process in the opposite direction. If you started from left to right, then now do the painting again from right to left in a “V” pattern. This is done to cover the lines of the previous paint roll.
